"At first glance, he looks like every other congressman in the Canon Building. His suit is dark. His tie is striped. He is convivial with his colleagues, who genuinely like him. But there is something different about Ron Paul.
You can hear congressmen when they walk down the hall, strutting their own importance. After all, there are regulations to be implemented, special interests to serve, a teetering American Empire that would collapse without their management. They wear black or cordovan leather shoes -- captoes, wingtips and brogues -- clacking down the hall, their bellies full of medium-rare steak from Capital Grille. They are surrounded by ambitious interns and legislative aides. They fiddle with their BlackBerries. You can't miss them tromping out of the elevators.
Ron Paul is easy to overlook. He takes the stairs; he does not have an entourage. You can't hear him coming because he's wearing plain black tennis shoes. In a bag he carries a can of soup that he will heat for himself in the microwave in his office. Beneath pictures of Austrian economists Frederick Von Hayek and Ludwig Von Mises, he will eat his lunch alone and in peace.
What is the purpose of Ron Paul's candidacy for the presidency of the United States? Some longshots run because their egos demand it. Others want to raise their lecture fees. Some run because they have plenty of money and nothing better to do. Following a flood of viewer requests, the Texas congressman recently appeared on Fox News to explain himself. His answer was buoyant though laconic: "I want to be president because I have this dream. I'd like to reinstate the Constitution and restore the Republic." His answer was also revolutionary.
Paul's doggedness in advancing the causes of individual responsibility and limited government could intimidate almost anyone who clings to the label "conservative" or "libertarian." Perhaps that is why he avoids those abused designations and calls himself a "constitutionalist." His philosophy is simple: "no government intervention, not in personal life, not in economic life, not in affairs of other nations."
Naturally he opposes almost everything Congress does. The physician cum congressman earned the nickname "Dr. No" early on. His opposition to what he considers unconstitutional spending even earned the grudging respect of GOP leaders. When Newt Gingrich cracked the whip on party members to support a messy budget compromise, he excused Paul from the duty to support the budget, and the "Ron Paul exemption" entered the congressional vocabulary. What did it take for other members to earn this privilege to buck the party? A voting record that opposed all unnecessary federal spending, even in their home district. No one else has been granted the exemption.
When Paul does propose legislation, it is simple, direct and radical. He's compiled an impressive list of bills that remain ignored to this day. HR 1146: To end membership of the United States in the United Nations. HR 776: To provide that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception. HR 1658: To ensure that the courts interpret the Constitution in the manner that the Framers intended.
His cheerful consistency doesn't end there. Paul not only votes against nearly all government spending, he has refused to be the beneficiary of it as well. As a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, he has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He accepted no money from Medicare or Medicaid, often working for free for needy patients. With his support, his five children finished school without subsidized federal student loans. He has refused a congressional pension."

REPUBLICAN DEBATE - THEY WERE AFRAID TO LET RON PAUL SPEAK
One thing was crystal clear. The Republicans were afraid,very afraid. Afraid of who?
They were afraid of the 800 pound gorilla in the match, Dr. Ron Paul, the only Republican on the stage with the huevos to speak truth to power.
One notices that Catcher's Mitt Romney, and "Too Much Rouge" Rudy Giuliani, got the lion's share of questions. And, this was REINFORCED by the fact that "L.A." Larry King, the talk show meister for the network on which the debate was held, IMMEDIATELY after the debate, ONLY brought on Too Much Rouge Rudy, and Catcher's Mitt (and I mean "cather" the way you think I mean probably) to talk. He didn't bring on Dr. Paul, Tancredo, or any of the others. WHY? He didn't even bring on John McCain.
At every opportunity that Dr. Paul WAS given, he made great sense. And, to show how much they were avoiding him, on two questions that, as a doctor, he is uniquely equipped to address, those on health care, they completely ignored him.
So, folks, you and I, average American citizens, are being railroaded as the GOP tries to hide the only really truthful, candidate that appeals to independents, liberals, libertarians, democrats, and republicans.

What do most of the last ten presidents of the United States have in common ?
They were all rich.
What do all of the alleged top / frontrunners for president have in common ?
They are all rich.
Ron paul is NOT RICH. Furthermore, he doesn't owe favors or allegiances to big Pharma, to big Oil, or the rest of the corporations that have controlled this country for decades.

For the third time this week, a retired CIA officer has told Antiwar Radio that U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is the driving force in al Qaeda’s recruitment and motivation for attacking America on September 11th.
Ray McGovern, a 27 year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency, when asked Friday afternoon what he thought of the exchange between Congressman Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani said (at 23:45 out of 43:23)
“I’m really edified by Ron Paul stepping up and stating what he believes to be the case.
“If you believe that they hate us for our democracy or for our freedoms, well I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn that I’d really like to sell you at a cut rate.
“They hate us for our policies and that’s what Ron Paul was saying. …
“Giuliani … really showed his true colors there as a demagogue.”
Earlier this week Michael Scheuer, the former chief of the CIA’s bin Laden unit and Philip Giraldi, another former CIA counter-terrorism officer, made much the same statements to Antiwar Radio.
McGovern then made the common analogy of terrorists and mosquitos and why the policy should be to “drain the swamp.” But rather than advising more invasions in the name of swamp draining as the Bush administration has maintained is their policy, McGovern says you want to remove the circumstances which create terrorism, by “find[ing] out where these terrorists are breeding.”
“[There is a] swamp of grievances dating back decades: Three generations of people living in the equivalent of concentration camps in the West Bank and Gaza, dictatorial regimes in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other places.
“If you look at those grievances and instead of trying to shoot those terrorists as they leave that swamp, you drain that swamp by addressing those grievances and giving these people some reason to hope for a better future. …
“People will come back and say, ‘Now Ray, for God’s sake, Osama bin Laden doesn’t give a darn about the Palestinians.’ Well, that doesn’t matter whether he does or he doesn’t. He knows the kind of resonance that kind of appeal has.”
McGovern then quoted the 9/11 Commission Report regarding the motivation of Kahlid Sheik Mohammad, the ringleader of the September 11th attacks:
“Kahlid Sheik Mohammad was motivated not by any antipathy resulting from his stay in the United States [where he had attended college years before], but by his profound hatred for U.S. policy toward Israel – favoring Israel one-sidedly.”
McGovern then summarized a footnote in the back of the 9/11 Commission Report as saying:
“These are practically the exact words of what Ramzi Yousef - Kahlid Sheik Mohammad’s nephew - used in bragging about his pride in being condemned to 140 years in a federal penitentiary for trying to knock down one of the Twin Towers back in 1993.”
That is indeed what Yousef said.

Dr. Ron Paul is a big hit on Real Time with Bill Maher
On the last REAL TIME with Bill Maher before the summer break, Dr. Ron Paul was a guest, and was an unprecedented success as a Republican on a liberally slanted show.
Ben Affleck tried to act as if Dr. Paul had no chance of being nominated, instead, picking as his choice, Mitt Romney. The very pro Dr. Paul audience would have none of this defeatist talk, and made VERY clear that Dr. Paul was THEIR choice, as millions will soon be indicating to the GOP.
Dr. Paul is in a TOTALLY unique position, in that he appeals to true Republicans (not the NeoCons and TheoCons who are destroying the party), to Democrats wanting to bring back personal rights and get us out of the war, and fiscal responsibility, and to Libertarians. As a man in my 50s, I have never before seen ONE candidate able to appeal to Repubs, Demos, Independents, AND libertarians.

Saul Anuzis was the idiot who had the dim idea of getting a petition to bar Dr. Ron Paul from the debates. Well...an interesting statement appears on his blog today...

Local radio station talk show hosts Mike Shanin and Scott Parks have decided to censor stories concerning 2008 Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul. On the air this afternoon, the pair suggested that they would require a 1500 signature petition to be hand-delivered to their studio for them to lift the ban on Dr. Paul. They started by mentioning a somewhat threatening email they received from an individual in Virginia. This email suggested that they cover Ron Paul or else risk the wrath of angry Paul supporters. Each time they mentioned his name on the air, it was bleeped out as if it were a curse word. At one point, they snickered to each other when one of them mentioned Ron Paul's name and the name was not censored, as if they accidently let it slip. They attempted to marginalize Dr. Paul by implying that there is only a small, radical group of Dr. Paul supporters, and his supporters are basically akin to tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists.
The hosts then went on to suggest that a petition be started, which would require 1500 hand-written signatures of Dr. Paul backers and was limited geographically to just the Kansas City metro area. They suggested that they would need to scrutinize the handwriting to verify that the signatures are real, implying that signatures would need to be forged to reach the 1500 goal. Shanin suggested that the signatures should be delivered in person to their Westwood One studios, to which Parks suggested that maybe they should just mail them in, because Dr. Paul's fan base are nuts.
The "Shanin and Parks" radio show airs weekdays from 4pm - 7pm CST on KMBZ. The pair are known locally as being conservative in their views, and so is KMBZ as evidenced by their mostly conservative lineup of programs. According to Wikipedia, "The station now carries Limbaugh's nationally syndicated show along with those of Bill O'Reilly, Neal Boortz, and Mark Levin as well as local hosts Mike Shanin & Scott Parks and Darla Jaye... Rush Limbaugh got his start in political commentary on the station in 1993."
Shanin and Parks recently did a show on the air where they suggested that there are no true conservatives in the field of Republican candidates. They went on to suggest that Fred Thompson should join the race, because he could carry the conservative mantle like Ronald Reagan. Dr. Paul's name was never mentioned.
In a 2005 op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, conservative icon Rush Limbaugh outlined his views on what it means to be a conservative. Limbaugh says:
We are confident in our principles and energetic about openly advancing them. We believe in individual liberty, limited government, capitalism, the rule of law, faith, a color-blind society and national security.
We support school choice, enterprise zones, tax cuts, welfare reform, faith-based initiatives, political speech, homeowner rights and the war on terrorism.
And at our core we embrace and celebrate the most magnificent governing document ever ratified by any nation — the U.S. Constitution. Along with the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes our God-given natural right to be free, it is the foundation on which our government is built and has enabled us to flourish as a people.
With the exception of the "War on Terrorism" and federally funded faith-based initiatives, Limbaugh's definition is almost point for point in line with Ron Paul's views and voting record. And, these views are also very much like the views frequently espoused on the Shanin and Parks show. According to Ron Paul's official campaign site, ronpaul2008.com,
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
Of course, these claims are easily verified by an examination of Dr. Paul's voting record and fit the ideals of classic conservate thought. So, it becomes ironic and fascinating that the KMBZ radio show's hosts would choose to censor a candidate whose views are frequently similar to their own. And, it is interesting that there are now attempts being made to censor Ron Paul from the debates, and that these attempts are being made by high level members of the Republican Party. GOPAC chair Michael Steele suggested on Fox News after the debate that the Republican Party should winnow the field of candidates allowed in the debates to include only the major top tier candidates. Fox News anchors made multiple suggestions that Paul's campaign was finished. The idea being perpetuated in the media is that Ron Paul is a fringe candidate. But, these attempts to undermine Dr. Paul's strong grass roots support lie in sharp contrast to the results of Fox News text messaging poll. The poll asked viewers to text their favorite candidate. When Sean Hannity first announced the poll results, Ron Paul was at 30% and was in first, followed closely by Mitt Romney. By the conclusion of the voting, Romney overtook Paul and the final results were 29% for Romney and 25% for Paul. The results were quickly dismissed by the Fox analysts as the work of a small group of organized Paul supporters and that the results were not scientific.

I think instead of this Bull$h!t...people in the listening area should BOYCOTT
this KMBZ radio station. Boycott their sponsors...that's where it hurts their
revenue. Call their sponsors and tell them as long as they sponsor programs
especially this pitiful Shanin and Parks pair, you will NOT be purchasing their
goods or services.
