Ron Paul Running Away With Nerdy Slashdot Poll

Looks like Slashdot beat us to the punch on this one. The subject of the site's latest poll: the Best Presidential Candidate for Nerds. Of course, we like make a point of drawing the line between nerds and geeks at Appscout and Gearlog, the bulk of our own readers following into the latter category, but when it comes to large-scale political issues such as picking a president, there's surely a lot of overlap between the two.

The reason why this poll jumped out at us was not the decision to include HP Lovecraft's creature, Cthulhu, over Ohio congressman, Dennis Kucinich, but rather the poll's results, which, at the time of this post have longtime Appscout post fodder and Texas representative Ron Paul leading the pack by 525 votes (Al Gore, who incidentally is not running for the position at the moment, is a distant second).

Your thoughts? Is this a reflection of genuine public opinion? An especially vocal online representation of one specific candidate? Ballot stuffers? Who's the most gadget blog-friendly candidate, and why?
